The Barmy Badger, or "the Badger" as it is more affectionately known, opened it's doors in 1997 and the first year set the atmosphere of the Badger to one of a relaxed, friendly, home away from home place to stay in London. Over 10 years on it is still going strong and welcoming people from all around the world.
Liz and Ken (Mama and Papa Badger) travelled extensively, mainly during their teens and early twenties. They returned to the UK to set up a clean, well equipped, homely and budget conscious hostel.
We are the only hostel in London which has dogs! They are incredibly cute, well behaved and do not bite. They only go into the communal areas, so don't worry about finding a dog curled up in your bed!
Tinka
Malarkey

Barmy cannot be translated into another language and it means nonsensical: completely lacking in good sense or reason!
Building started in Longridge Road in 1873.
Earls Court was originally nicknamed the Polish Corridor after many Poles settled in the area after World War II. It was only in the late 1960's that the Antipodeans moved in and the new nickname Kangaroo Alley was created.
The Badger used to be a police station in the early 20th Century.
500 years ago Earls Court was spelt Earl's Court and was a farm.
Daschund (which both Tinka and Malarkey are cross bred with) means "Badger Dog" in German as Daschunds were originally bred to hunt badgers.
The Barmy Badger is a "point" on The Knowledge - the test that has to be taken by drivers before they get their licence to drive a Black Cab. Most days you will see guys on mopeds stopping outside.
